Freeriding means, skiing in a deared area (apart from the safed ski pistes) through the untouched snow. Both, boarders and skiers are likewise thrilled by the off-piste options of Schönberg, Angeralm, Imisl and Eisgrube which turn the Krippenstein area into a freeriding Eldorado.
The Freesports Arena Krippenstein is periodical called in many national and international magazines and trade journals.
The edition 01/2006 of the Ski&Wintersport journal „Planet Snow“ has quoted the 10 best freeride spots in europe: The Freeride Arena Krippenstein reached the 1. position!
(2. Cortina d`Ampezzo, 3. Hochfügen, 4. Mittenwald, 5. Arlberg, 6. St. Moritz, 7. Disentis, 8. Oberstdorf, 9. Flumserberg, 10. Engelberg)
Already at the beginning of the last century, freeriding was popular. Freeriders have enjoyed the lonlyness of the mountains, the pleasure in and with the nature and have left their tracks in the powdered snow. Freeriding is not only a sport – it`s an expirience.
But Freeriders take upon a high responsibility. Best knowledge and equipment (helmet, rucksack with snow shovel, avalanche probe and first aid equipment) are necessary condition. For case of accidents inform previously of the telephonnumber cable railway and mountain rescue. Never ride alone. Observe each other and never lose sight. Are concentrate and able to react. Ride only in steep slopes and hold considerable margins.
Otherwise you only need „fat“ skiers (this means more than 95 mm wide, broad shovel, soft flex, the length of the ski should take your size plus about 10cm).
So, if you want to shred through the free area and mark your trail through the powdered snow: Leave the workaday world and enjoy the Freesports Arena Krippenstein!
